Jim is by no means an “expert” on Beardies, certainly not by comparison to Jane who has immersed herself in Beardie-lore over the years. However, not being a prime source of information puts Jim in the position of communicating some of those things that new Beardie owners should be aware. Jim's wife --- like most experts in most fields --- will tend to assume that “everyone” knows certain items and fail to mention them, whereas Jim tends to identify more with the “new” owner, and can anticipate some of the areas that Jane might overlook in her wisdom.
